Jon Harris announces continued campaign for Florida’s 16th Congressional District following last-minute gerrymandering

TAMPA BAY, Fla. (May 1, 2026) — Congressional candidate Jon Harris today announced he will continue his campaign for Florida’s 16th Congressional District following last-minute gerrymandering to the state’s congressional map.

CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JON HARRIS: I’m a combat veteran, U.S. Army Warrant Officer and cybersecurity professional, and I’ve been campaigning in this district since October 2025. These changes don’t alter why I’m running or who I’m fighting for.

I’ve lived and worked in the Tampa Bay region for 17 years, raised my family here and understand the challenges working families are facing every day. My focus remains on delivering real solutions for this community.

Regardless of how the lines are drawn, my commitment doesn’t change. I’m staying focused on the issues that matter most to the people of Tampa Bay.

I’m not a career politician. My perspective comes from military service and years of protecting critical infrastructure in the private sector.

This campaign has always been about service — listening to people, showing up and delivering results for working families, not any one party or any one man.

My priorities remain clear: lowering costs for families, protecting Social Security, supporting veterans, strengthening coastal resilience and defending personal freedoms.

We will immediately expand our voter outreach and grassroots organizing efforts across the newly proposed district including Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto, Hardee and Polk counties.
